Whenever I connect to internet, the computer starts downloading (or uploading) something automatically. I tried to find what it may be but could not find. I turned automatic program update feature off but still the process continued. Does any one understand this problem and can provide any solution? I have Windows XP O/S, kaspersky antivirus software and 256 kbps bsnl broadband connection.

Trying downloading and installing Zonealarm. Once its installed, restart your machine and see what tries to connect to the internet once you boot up. Zonealarm will pop up with a message anytime something tries to connect to the internet.

Are you using Limewire or any other P2P file sharing program? If so, it is just other people downloading files from your computer.
how can you tell that something is being uploaded or downloaded, is there a progress bar or popup of some kind? if you provide this piece of information, it is easy to assist you with pinpointing the problem. thanks
