What's Eating My Bandwidth???

I recently installed 'Zone Alarm' antivirus software. and there's a little red/green bar that indicates the level of upload/download being performed on your PC. Even when i've got no programs opening the little green download bar is always flickering up and down very rapidly. What could my internet be using that i don't know about?

Review what you have installed or set ZoneAlarm to prompt you for every application that wants access to the internet and clear your ''allowed list''.

It could be an IM programs, Windows Update, behind the scenes email update app... it could be any number of things and since we don't have your installed apps listing, setting ZA to prompt you for everything is a good way to see what it is.

go to your task manager (Ctrl + alt + delete) and check out the processes tab.
May be Zonealarm is updating or windows update is going on..
zone alarm could be using it all, or someone may be stealing your wireless
I think its the windows update, antivirus update and all. Zone alarm will not allow other programs to access the internet.

To see what programs are getting access, click on the zone alarm tray icon, programs%26gt;program control.
