Spyware/virus ?

My son is having some trouble with his computer in Chicago, a notice has come up on screen saying his computer is in danger from spyware and to click on box to fix. When he does this it opens a site on the web selling antivirus software.What can he do to get rid of this problem.

It looks like your son as Spyware in his system. I would suggest downloading http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/do... . that should kill it.
If your spyware has expired it does that. Spybot Search and Destroy is free. My entire family has been using it for years. I think you can download it from CNET.com. It may be listed as Spybot SD
